The Essence of Gamat Bay

An Untouched Sanctuary

Nestled between the more frequented Crystal Bay and Toyapakeh harbour on Nusa Penida's stunning coastline, Gamat Bay remains a relatively hidden gem. Known for its serene atmosphere and dramatically less crowded beach, it offers a more intimate connection with the island's raw beauty.

While access might require a little more adventure than its neighbours, the reward is a pristine cove with soft white sand, fringed by palms, and opening onto crystal-clear turquoise waters that whisper tales of the vibrant world beneath.

An Underwater Symphony

Often described as diving or snorkeling in a giant aquarium, Gamat Bay's true magic lies beneath the surface. The bay boasts incredible visibility and a thriving marine ecosystem.

Reaching Paradise

Gamat Bay offers an escape, and reaching it is part of the adventure. You have two main options:

By Boat:

Many snorkeling and diving tours departing from Toyapakeh or even mainland Bali include Gamat Bay in their itinerary. This is often the easiest way, especially for underwater activities, providing direct access to the best spots.

By Land:

From Toyapakeh Harbour, head in the direction of Crystal Bay. Take the right fork at the sign for 'Gamat Bay'. A newly built road now allows you to drive your scooter all the way to the lower carpark near the beach. From there, it’s just a short 2-minute walk down concrete stairs to reach the sand. Ride carefully, as some parts of the road may still be narrow or steep.
